Meeting Minutes

Chair Mary O’Shields called the meeting to order at 10:06 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: JoAnn led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance
Minutes: Called for any changes to December minutes. Called for approval of minutes. Paulette Riley made the motion. Johnny Rickman 2nd and all were in favor. December minutes were accepted.
Treasury Report: Karen Breton
Karen reported that as of the end of December 2024 and with ACT Blue contributions the ending balance is $9171.18. Karen expressed her thankfulness to those who are able to give. With this support we’re able to support candidates, advertise candidates, buy stamps etc.
Update: $306 was collected in donations at the meeting
Chair Update: Mary O’Shields
Mary began the meeting by introducing officers and new members to our meeting.
Mary thanked the group for the donations for the family through LT Thrift store for Christmas as well as those who were able to attend the MLK candle lighting event.

Mary presented the group with some information about the Arkansas Kids Count Coalition. They are currently looking for members for a steering committee.
Mary reviewed some upcoming bills that are being introduced in Arkansas and how important it is to contact our legislators to let them know what their constituents think. CALL, EMAIL, CALL, EMAIL! Mary reminded the group of the app 5 calls. This app lists issues with templates to call/email/mail to local, state and national legislators. Mary provided a sheet with our state and national officials that represent Arkansas and their information to be contacted.

New Business:
Elections took place to elect new officers.
The floor was opened to nominations for a chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary, delegates and election commissioner representative. All were voted unanimously.
